TA: What’s your current hustle?
SG: Currently I’ve been chipping away at getting more Directing and Creative Directing work- really excited to start releasing some of those projects!
TA: Has what you’re doing now been a life-long interest?
SG: Not really. I sort of fell into working as a visual artist after I studied music in college. I took making music videos as a way to stay in the music scene without pushing towards a career as a professional musician.
TA: Who gave you the most memorable career advice?
SG: There have been a couple people along my journey so far that have been either a role model or inspiration to keep thriving towards being able to create with my friends.
TA: What was your first “big job?”
SG: It's hard to really say what a “big” job really is. There’ve been so many projects put together by upcoming and ambitious creatives that haven’t necessarily received the attention of a artist with a wider platform or larger following. I approach every project like they’re all equal and not like one is bigger or necessarily “better" than the next. I’m egalitarian with all of the work I put out-- I have a certain standard and level that I hold myself to with each and every artist or collaborator.
TA: Did you ever think you wouldn't make it to this point in your career?
SG: I never had a point I was heading towards--this comes back to the every job is as important as the next. In a freelance world you really are only as good as your last job.
TA: If you could tell your younger self one thing about work ethic, what would it be?
SG: To not get discouraged when things don’t feel like they are moving at the pace you want.
TA: What inspires you most?
SG: Music, art, friends. Everything together is what drives me forward!
TA: What has been the best moment in your career so far?
SG: All of the great and long time friends I have created along the way. They're the best.
TA: What are you still looking to achieve?
SG: I hope to keep being able to create with people I care about and believe in. It's the reason I’m still here making things that people say can’t possibly be done.
SG: Thank you for having me on! Hope to see more and more creatives getting love and exposure to enable the youth and show them that there are careers and alternative life paths other than what's taught in schools.
